Devonport High School for Girls – End of Middle Years and Upper Years performance

We are extremely proud of the achievements of our students and congratulate them on their excellent examination results.

Summer 2024

GCSE

  • 73.8% of grades achieved were grades 7 to 9 or top grades at GCSE (A/A* equivalent).
  • 100% Basics Standard Pass, which is the percentage of students achieving grades 9-4 in both English and mathematics.
  • 98% Basics Strong Pass, which is the percentage of students achieving 9-5 in both English and mathematics.
  • Attainment 8: 75.4 (grade 7 average), which is our students average total point score across a suite of 8 qualifying subjects.
  • Progress 8: +0.78, A progress score shown as a proportion of a grade. The average grade our students achieved (Attainment 8) compared with students nationally who had a similar starting point (prior attainment) at the end of primary school. A Progress 8 score of +0.78 indicates that on average, our students achieved about ¾ of a grade higher than similar students nationally.

EBacc:

  • 87% of the Year 11 cohort were entered for the English Baccalaureate meaning they studied at least English, mathematics, History or Geography, a modern foreign language and the sciences.
  • 86% English Baccalaureate Standard Pass, which is the percentage of students achieving 9-4 in English, mathematics, a humanities (History or Geography), a modern foreign language and the sciences.
  • 78.5% English Baccalaureate Strong Pass, which is the percentage of students achieving 9-5 in English, mathematics, a humanities (History or Geography), a modern foreign language and the sciences.
  • EBacc average point score – 7.2
  • EBacc English element average point score – 7.9
  • EBacc Maths element average point score – 7.3
  • EBacc Sciences element average point score – 7.3
  • EBacc Languages element average point score – 6.1
  • EBacc Humanities element average point score – 7.0

Destinations:

  • 99% stayed in education or went into employment after finishing key stage 4 (Year 11).

A level

  • %A*-B grades: 71.2%.
  • A Level average points score per entry/average grade: 41.5.

90% progressed to education or employment - Students that left 16 to 18 study at this school in 2022, who either stayed in education or went into employment from October to March the following year, or stayed in an apprenticeship for at least 6 months.
