The Sixth Form Curriculum

The Sixth Form Curriculum embodies our offer of both breadth and depth, and as such is called the Scholars Baccalaureate.  Here students will undertake 3 or 4 A Levels, the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), Employability Competencies and skills on Unifrog, and the wider and super curricular offers of one of our enrichment subjects or face to face or virtual work experience.  We believe passionately in a Sixth Form curriculum model that allows our students to deepen their critical thinking, enhance their skills of problem solving, and to self-reflect and develop their employability skills, giving them the skills they need to lead in their chosen field.  We believe in the notion of individual care and high aspirations for every Sixth Form student, and as such engaging fully with being a critical scholar is essential. We use up to date labour market information to contextualise what skills our learners need, and we feel that our complete offer makes DHSG the Sixth Form of choice across the city and wider region.

We offer 20 different subjects at A Level which reflects the diverse interests and curiosity of our students nurtured in Lower and Middle Years, and the choice of subjects chosen at EPQ is breathtaking.  We take great care to interleave our curriculum in the Sixth Form to resonate opportunities with careers, and make sure that interactions of both super and extra-curricular is tracked on our Unifrog platform. We are not complacent with our curriculum and are always looking for ways to develop it as an organic entity that reflects the needs and interests of our students, as well as the labour market.
